A high-speed container truck crashed into a stationary vehicle on a Fatehpur highway, trapping four people inside the cabin. Police and fire crews carried out a challenging night rescue, freeing the victims and sending them to hospital. The critically injured driver was referred to Kanpur as authorities probe the cause of the collision.
Emergency teams from the local police and fire department rushed to the scene and launched a strenuous rescue operation under challenging conditions. Using cutting tools and hydraulic equipment, responders worked meticulously to free the driver and three others who were wedged inside the twisted metal. All four were pulled out alive and immediately transported to a nearby hospital.
According to officials, the container’s driver sustained severe injuries and was later referred to Kanpur for advanced treatment due to his critical condition. The remaining victims are undergoing medical care and are reported to be in stable condition. Authorities are examining the circumstances leading to the crash and assessing whether negligence or mechanical fault contributed to the high-impact collision.
The incident has raised concerns about nighttime highway safety, particularly the risks posed by stalled vehicles and speeding heavy carriers. Police say the investigation will focus on preventive measures to avoid similar accidents, especially on stretches where visibility drops sharply after dark.
